YARAPA RIVER NATURAL EXPEDITIONS (2 days / 1 nights)

Suggested itinerary

Day 1: Reception upon arrival at the airport or reception at your hotel in Iquitos. Transfer to Nauta city in a private car. Transportation by motor boat to Yarapa River Communal Reserve, on a two-hour and thirty-minute trip.

Witness the birth of the majestic Amazon River at the confluence of Marañón and Ucayali rivers. Entrance to Yarapa communal reserve. During the trip you will be able to watch some species of pink and gray dolphins (bufeos) and different kinds of birds. Typical lunch on board (box lunch). First activity when entering the reserve in the afternoon, search for sloths and iguanas. Search for a strategic area to camp and settle.

Exploration on foot at night to look for tarantulas, scorpions, bullfrogs and nocturnal insects. Search for mammals such as pacas and agoutis.

Dinner in the jungle.

Night expedition by canoes to search for alligators on the river banks or in a nearby lagoon.

Spend the night in camping tents or shelters built by the hands of the own visitors.

Day 2: Wake up in the early hours of the morning to navigate by canoes and watch the sunrise and be able to watch and talk about some species of birds that are in the area, such as macaws, prehistoric birds, herons, kingfishers, flycatchers and some dozens more.

Breakfast in the camping area. Fishing practice for "piranhas" and/or other species. Tasting of them during lunch.

Exploration through the jungle looking for and monitoring various species of primates such as howler monkeys, capuchins, squirrel monkeys, huakaris and others. Identification of these through their own sounds and behaviors.

Lunch in the middle of the jungle.

Free time to enjoy the refreshing waters of Yarapa or Cumaceba river, using our amusement equipment, such as floating sticks and floating chairs, while watching more dolphins around us.

Return to Nauta city then return to Iquitos.
